The story behind it:

Vegan wines are made in a distinct way to non-vegan methods. Traditionally wines are processed with fining agents including gelatin, isinglass, egg whites and milk proteins, all of which are derived from animals, to clarify, soften and stabilise. As these are eventually filtered out of the wine, they are not considered additives, thought traces may remain. Vegan wines use non-animal methods, including natural limestone and carbon to do this same process, or can be naturally unfined and unfiltered at all, without any additives.
